One of my friends recently referred to me working on my art as a hobby. However, my art practice is never just a hobby. I have invested time into my craft and taken professional, traditional art classes. That’s not to say that people don’t invest serious effort in their hobbies- they do. But I have an entire degree in art.
My hobbies include making videos and reading. I don’t make art “for fun.” I make it when I have an idea that I want to see realized, to express a feeling or a thought. But I feel that if I am going to embark on seriously investing my craft, it’s not just a hobby. It transcends “hobby.”
